Standard Ukulele tuning Soprano

Soprano Ukulele Tuning: The smallest and most popular size of. the ukulele is the soprano. Most of the books are arranged for the soprano ukulele in C tuning. Easiest Soprano Ukulele tuning is with a pitch pipe matching. the strings with the notes. This corresponds to that famous melody: My dog has fleas. The Soprano ukulele is actually a string instrument with a small, guitar-shaped body that is fitted with four strings; it is considered a member of the chordophone family. At the top of the ukulele, four holes are drilled and pegs, which hold the strings, are inserted. Tuning keys are attached to these pegs and fastened to the neck with screws. These keys have a gear mechanism which rotates the pegs and tighten the strings when turned. Strings are then put on the ukulele. They are first tied to the bottom saddle section and strung up to the tuning pegs. Each peg has a hole in it where the string is inserted and tied. The tuning keys are turned to make the strings tight.

Standard Ukulele Tuning:
The standard ukulele tuning is GCEA. In the United States, soprano and concert ukes are usually tuned in the chord of C6: G-C-E-A, with the G-string traditionally tuned an octave up, so it is pitched between the E- and A-strings. In the past, it was not uncommon for the soprano to be tuned a whole step higher in the chord of D6: A-D-F#-B, with the lowest note being D (the A is a whole step below the B). This tuning was very popular in vaudeville in the days before amplification. The tension and tone are a little brighter and louder. This tuning is still used today by some known personalities in ukulele circles.

Baritone Ukulele Tuning: The baritone ukulele is the biggest member of the ukulele family. The baritone uke has a strong kin-ship with the guitar, since the 4 strings of the baritone uke are tuned exactly the same as the four smallest strings of a guitar. Thus everyone who has ever played any guitar at all will be instantly at home with the baritone uke. The baritone ukulele tuning is in G (like the highest sounding four strings of a guitar, D-G-B-E), which makes it as much a tenor guitar as a ukulele. The tenor ukulele can be tuned either way, and in C tuning is sometimes tuned with the G-string an octave lower, so it is pitched below the C-string, where you might expect it. Some historians say such a tuning makes it a small guitar, since the re-entrant tuning is the characteristic that most identified the original ukulele.

Types of Ukulele: Different types of ukulele comes in four sizes from smallest to largest: soprano (the original size), concert, tenor (created in the 1920s), and baritone (created in the late 1940s). A soprano uke has a 13″ (33 cm) scale length and is usually about 21″ (53 cm) total length. A concert uke has a 15″ (38 cm) scale length and is usually about 23″ (58 cm) total length. A tenor uke has a 17″ (43 cm) scale length and is usually about 26″ (66 cm) total length. A baritone uke has a 19″ (48 cm) scale length and is usually about 30″ (76 cm) total length.
